The invention provides a hybrid electric vehicle and a switch protection device of a high-voltage circuit of the hybrid electric vehicle. The device comprises an energy storage module, a discharge module and a delay switch. One end of the energy storage module is connected with the positive terminal of a power battery in the high-voltage circuit through a positive relay; one end of the discharge module is connected with the other end of the energy storage module; the other end of the discharge module is connected with the negative terminal of the power battery through a negative relay; the other end of the discharge module and one end of the energy storage module are connected to two ends of loading equipment correspondingly; the discharge module is used for performing discharging on the energy storage module; the delay switch is connected to two ends of the discharge module in parallel; and when the high-voltage circuit is subjected to abnormal power failure, the delay switch is maintained to be closed, so that the energy storage module supplies power for the loading equipment. By adopting the device, the phenomenon of driving accidents due to instant interruption of a power source caused by sudden breakdown is eliminated, a reasonable discharging circuit is designed, and a way of manually operating a discharging switch is adopted, so that the safety of the maintenance staff maintaining the vehicle is guaranteed.
