The invention discloses a characteristic vehicle speed measurement method for a vehicle. The characteristic vehicle speed measurement method for the vehicle comprises the following steps: firstly, acquiring parameters, such as the axle base, the wheel base, the wheel rolling radius, and the distance from a mass center to a rear axle, and acquiring the rotating angle of a steering wheel, the yaw velocity, and the rotating speed of a left rear wheel and a right rear wheel when the vehicle travels by using a sensor; secondly, calculating the turning radius at the mass center when the vehicle turns; thirdly, obtaining a relational expression between the characteristic vehicle speed of the vehicle and the turning radius at the mass center by utilizing an Ackermann equation, and calculating the characteristic speed of the vehicle by utilizing the turning radius at the mass center obtained in the second step. According to the characteristic vehicle speed measurement method for the vehicle provided by the invention, the characteristic vehicle speed of the vehicle can be obtained by only measuring the basic parameters during a vehicle turning traveling process by using conventional sensors without measuring side-drifting characteristics of wheels by using a special test device, so that the measuring process is simple and feasible.
