The invention discloses a traffic jam coordinated control method and a traffic jam coordinated control system. The traffic jam coordinated control method includes the steps of inputting, namely, dividing passing of a current key intersection into four phases transformed sequentially, and measuring road occupancy rates and vehicle lengths of next road segments of all the phases and traffic flow information of a previous key intersection; computing, namely, computing traffic capacities of the four phases transformed sequentially, wherein the traffic capacity of any phase is equal to a value obtained by multiplying the road occupancy rate of the next road segment of the phase by the vehicle length of the road segment of the phase and then dividing the product by the traffic flow information of the previous key intersection; comparing, namely, comparing the traffic capacities of the four phases transformed sequentially so as to obtain the phase with the maximum traffic capacity; outputting, namely, when the phase with the maximum traffic capacity is displayed as a green light, subjecting the green light to delaying with a first preset time, and when the phase with the maximum traffic capacity is displayed as a red light, switching the red light to the green light and continuing a second preset time. The traffic jam coordinated control method can solve sudden traffic jam.
