The invention discloses an axle of a railway wagon. The axle comprises an axle body, wheel seats connected to two outer sides of the axle body in sequence, a dustproof plate seat and an axle neck, wherein the axle neck is connected with a bearing in a matching manner; the dustproof plate seat is provided with a cylindrical section and a transitional section in sequence from outside to inside; the cylindrical section is matched with a bearing rear bumper of the bearing, and the axial length of the cylindrical section is equal to that of a matching hole in the bearing rear bumper; the end surface of the transitional section is gradually increased to the wheel seats from the cylindrical section. By the adoption of the structure, the length of the cylindrical section is set to meet the minimum length required for matching with the bearing rear bumper on the premise that the total axial length of the dustproof plate seat is unchanged, and therefore the length of the transitional section is far larger than that of an existing circular-arc-shaped step. Compared with the prior art, the axle disclosed by the invention has the advantages that the stress between the dustproof plate seat and the wheel seats is reduced, the flexure strength between the dustproof plate seat and the wheel seats is enhanced, and the working reliability of the whole axle is improved. Besides, the invention also discloses the railway wagon applying the axle.
