The invention provides a manufacturing method suitable for the manufacturing of a composite stiffening element (1), comprising: arranging composite laminates (10, 13) partially between caul plates (11, 14) and mould halves (12, 15), and partially between a movable upper sandwich plate (16) and a movable lower sandwich plate (17), moving the upper and lower sandwich plates (16, 17) together and moving the assembly formed by the first caul plate (11) and the first mould half (12) and the assembly formed by the second caul plate (14) and the second mould half (15), and joining and co-curing the composite laminates (10, 13) to make up the composite stiffening element (1). The invention also provides a composite stiffening element (1).
