The invention discloses a mechanical climbing device for an electric tower or a pole. The climbing device comprises a rack rail and a climbing device body; the climbing device body comprises a shell, a shaking handle, a gear, a footrest, hooking wheels and a clamping tongue; the gear is arranged inside the shell, gear teeth of the gear are meshed with rail teeth of the rack rail, the climbing device body drives the gear to move upward along the rack rail through the shaking handle, a hanging handle is fixedly arranged at the bottom of the shell, and the footrest is suspended below the hanging handle through a lifting rope; the rack rail is of an I-shaped structure, the number of the hooking wheels is two, and the two hooking wheels are hooked in two grooves in the I-shaped rack rail; one end of the clamping tongue is connected with the bottom of the shell through a rotating shaft, and a spring is arranged between the clamping tongue and the shell; an small rectangular hole is formed in the clamping tongue, the rotating shaft is arranged at the middle portion of the small rectangular hole, a clamping tougue flap is installed on the rotating shaft, the clamping tougue flap rotates back and forth in the small rectangular hole through the rotating shaft, and a safety-protecting belt is fixedlly connected with the hanging handle. The mechanical climbing device provides security assurance for efficient construction or electric power maintenance.
