The embodiment of the invention discloses an online road traffic environment detecting system comprising a flow monitoring terminal, a remote sensing type gas monitoring terminal, a data transmitting terminal and a monitoring center. The flow monitoring terminal obtains road motor vehicle flow information. The remote sensing type gas monitoring terminal is used for detecting the content of road polluting gas. The monitoring center judges the road crowd degree according to the flow information and controls traffic lights according to the road polluting gas condition. By the adoption of the online road traffic environment detecting system, a strategy for controlling the road traffic flow is provided by detecting the road motor vehicle flow and tail gas pollutants, the possibility that too much tail gas is emitted due to unreasonable passage of motor vehicles is reduced, and therefore the road environment quality is improved; through a reliable detecting host and an aligning device, road environment detection is more reliable; the online road traffic environment detecting system has the advantages of being low in cost, low in error and efficient, promotes extensive management based on human experience to be converted to refined scientific decision and provides and a technical support for the emission control over urban pollutants.
