The invention discloses a parking brake system for a forklift and the forklift with the parking brake system. The parking brake system for the forklift comprises a brake cylinder, a piston, an elastic part and an electromagnetic component. The piston is movably arranged between a braking position and a braking removal position, and arranged in the brake cylinder, the interior of the brake cylinder is divided by the piston into a first oil chamber and a second oil chamber, and a magnetic part is arranged on the piston. The elastic part is arranged in the first oil chamber, and the two ends of the elastic part make contact with the wall, opposite to the piston, of the first oil chamber and the piston respectively. After the electromagnetic component is powered on, the electromagnetic component and the magnetic part conduct magnetism cooperation to generate magnetic suction so that the piston can be driven to move from the braking position to the braking removal position and to compress the elastic part in the movement process, and after the electromagnetic component is powered off, the piston is driven by the elastic part to move from the braking removal position to the braking position. According to the parking brake system for the forklift, the system is simple, braking is reliable, and energy is saved.
