The invention relates to an elevator fault alarm method. The elevator fault alarm method comprises the following steps: S1, acquiring the fault information of an elevator controller through a GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) module, wherein the fault information comprises elevator ID (Identification) information, floor information and fault types; S2, receiving the fault information sent by the GPRS module through a server platform; S3, calling an interface of an SamSs system through the server platform, and sending the fault information to the SamSs system for three-stage platform alarming. The invention also provides an elevator fault alarm system. The elevator fault alarm system comprises the elevator controller, the GPRS module, the server platform and the SamSs system. The elevator fault alarm method and the elevator fault alarm system have the beneficial effects that the main market requirement for the elevator industry is higher; core customers are the Bureau of Quality Supervision and elevator manufacturers; the trapping fault is solved in time favorably; the responsibility is diffused level by level; the elevator fault can be more tightly monitored and processed.
