The invention discloses a method for starting an automobile engine based on an alcohol sensor. The method comprises the following steps: firstly obtaining an alcohol detection signal of the exhaled air of a driver through an alcohol sensor in an automobile; subsequently analyzing and processing the alcohol detection signal; and finally judging whether the alcohol detection signal exceeds a preset threshold of content of alcohol, and switching on an engine starting circuit if no; and switching off the engine starting circuit if yes. The method can be used for effectively avoiding drunken driving or drunk driving, has high expansibility, is capable of reducing the probability of drunken driving fundamentally and greatly reducing the occurrence of frequent traffic accidents caused by drunken driving, and has important significance to the safe driving of vehicles.
