This external charge structure prevents the charging port lid from releasing the lock of a charging gun even if the charging port lid is closed towards the charging gun during charging. This external charge structure is provided with a normal charging port (22) for connecting the charging gun (50), and a charging port lid (21) which, when no charging is taking place, closes and covers the opening of a port chamber (29) where the normal charging port (22) is disposed, and which, during charging, opens and ensures an opening space allowing port connection of the charging gun (50). In this external charge structure of an electric vehicle (1), the charging gun (50) is provided with a lock unit (51a) which maintains the port connection in an electrically connected position, and a lock release operation unit (51b) which projects from the gun surface and which releases the lock by means of a pushing operation. On the reverse surface of the charging port lid (21), an initial contact part (38a) is provided which, when the charge port lid (21) is closed towards the charging gun (50) during charging, contacts a position other than the lock release operation unit (51b) before contacting the lock release operation unit (51b).
