The invention discloses a floating type self-elevating drilling platform which is provided with a main deck, an upper structure of the main deck, a floating pad, pile legs, an elevating mechanism and a mooring system. The area and the thickness of the floating pad are larger than those of the main deck, the center of the floating pad is provided with a moon pool, and the floating pad is internally divided into a plurality of bins. A well drilling module is located on or is close to the upper portion of the geometrical center of the main deck, the number of the pile legs is three, the three pile legs are of a truss structure, the bottom of each pile leg is in rigid connection with the floating pad, and the main deck vertically lifts along the pile legs through the elevating mechanism and is fixed at the predetermined height. Each pile leg comprises an upper section hollow sealing body and a lower section hollow sealing body, and during the operation, the waterline is located within the height range of the upper section and is positioned through the mooring system. Different from a traditional self-elevating platform, the floating type self-elevating drilling platform is not in contact with a seabed during the operation, the floatation center is higher than the gravity, the movement performance is good, the oil storage capacity is high, and the floating type self-elevating drilling platform can be used for oil gas drilling and production in a sea area within a 500-meter water depth and is particularly suitable for a water depth of 200-500 m.
