The invention relates inter alia to a method for transmitting an event signal (E (Ta, Taz)) from a signal transmitter (10) to a signal receiver (20), wherein the event signal characterises an event and the time of the event. According to the invention, the signal transmitter produces an event signal which characterises the time (Ta) of the event according to the time base (11) of the signal transmitter and a correction value (Taz) which indicates, indirectly or directly, the time lag, estimated by the signal transmitter, between the time base (21) of the signal receiver and the time base of the signal transmitter. After receiving the event signal, the signal receiver estimates the time of the event according to the time base of the signal transmitter, taking into account the time of the event estimated by the signal transmitter according to the time base of the signal receiver and a time lag estimated by the signal receiver between the time base of the signal receiver and the time base of the signal transmitter. When evaluating the event signal, the signal receiver takes into account the time of the event indicated in the event signal according to the time base of the signal transmitter and the time of the event estimated by the signal receiver after receiving the event signal according to the time base of the signal transmitter.
