The invention discloses a method and a device for detecting abnormal operation of an elevator, and aims at solving the technical problems in the prior art that an elevator control system cannot automatically detect whether the position of an elevator car is abnormal or not. The method comprises the following steps: detecting a first group of operation parameters of the elevator through a first detection manner in an operation process of the elevator; meanwhile, detecting a second group of operation parameters of the elevator through a second detection manner, which is different from the first detection manner; judging whether a detection result of the first group of operation parameters and a detection result of the second group of operation parameters accord with a pre-set corresponding relation or not, and obtaining a judging result; when the judging result is negative, determining that the operation of the elevator is abnormal. The technical effect of automatically detecting the abnormal position of the elevator car by the elevator control system is realized.
