The invention belongs to the technical field of an elevator and the electrical control. A method for automatically calling an elevator is characterized by comprising the following steps executed in order: firstly, waiting to approach, which is to wait passengers to approach a calling unit; secondly, judging whether someone approaches, if not, returning to the first step to wait continuously, or entering the third step; thirdly, judging whether the current floor is the ground floor, if not, entering the fourth step, or not processing; fourthly, setting the descending calling and lighting up a descending calling button indicator light. The invention further discloses an automatic ascending/descending calling method on floors excepting the ground floor. The method for automatically calling the elevator has the following beneficial effects that on the floors excepting the ground floor, the elevator can be automatically called without pressing a descending button, and both hands of the passengers can be freed; in the hard winter, the hands will not be frozen when a person calls to descend; and bacterial infection caused by contacting the buttons is reduced.
