The invention relates to a lifting derrick, and especially relates to a single-mast single-pulley-block lifting derrick and a construction method thereof. The lifting derrick comprises a main brace, an auxiliary brace, a hoisting sheave platform, a main brace lifting point, an auxiliary brace lifting point and a mast, wherein the main brace lifting point is welded on the main brace hoisting sheave platform, and the bottom ends of supporting legs of the main brace are fixed with hinges; the top of the mast is connected onto the main brace lifting point through a set of pulley blocks, and the main brace is lifted by the main brace lifting point and the pulley blocks; the auxiliary brace lifting point is welded on the main brace, and the auxiliary brace is lifted by the main brace and the pulley blocks connected between the main brace and the auxiliary brace. The lifting derrick provided by the invention is used for solving the problems that the existing double-mast double-pulley-block lifting derrick is unbalanced in lifting force transmission, complicated in construction procedure, high in construction strength, high in investment in human and material resources, and high in cost when the two set of pulley blocks are combined to lift, and great potential risk is brought to the construction safety because the eccentric wear of pulleys is easily caused, and even the rim of the pulley is damaged by excessive force in the lifting process of the existing single-mast lifting derrick are solved.
