An electrically assisted power steering device is provided with an input shaft imparted with steering force from a steering wheel, an output shaft imparted with auxiliary power generated by an electric motor, and a torque detection sleeve. Either the input shaft or the output shaft is provided with a cylindrical part having a female stopper part and a circumferential groove. The remaining input shaft or output shaft is provided with a male stopper part for land-and-groove engagement of the female stopper part such that relative rotation within a prescribed angular range is possible. An edge section at the basal end of the torque detection sleeve is crimped to the circumferential groove. The circumferential groove is situated in a section of the outside peripheral face of the cylindrical part overlapping in a diametrical direction the stopper engagement area in which the female stopper part and the male stopper part engage one another.
