The invention relates to a rotary handrail elevator, which belongs to the technical field of elevators and comprises a support, a spindle, a central gear, four or six revolving cars, a motor, a speed reducer and a control system, wherein the revolving cars are evenly distributed and have the same structure. Each revolving car comprises an arm shaft, a back car shaft, a proximal gear, an arm shaft sleeve, a distal gear, a car gear, a car, a front car shaft and a rotary arm. A handrail is mounted on the non-opening side in the car. Each revolving car adopts a transparent closed box structure or an open basket structure. The central gear is fixedly mounted on the support. The transmission ratio of the central gear to the car gear is 1:1. When the arm shaft of each revolving car is located at a vertical position just under the spindle, the top of the corresponding car of the revolving car is at a horizontal position. The spindle is driven by power to rotate so as to drive all the revolving cars to revolve clockwise, and the car tops are driven by the car gears to revolve counterclockwise and are kept at horizontal stable positions. The rotary handrail elevator is relatively simple to control and operate, is safe, stable and reliable, and is particularly suitable for hollow low-rise buildings and places with high passenger flow.
