The axle of a car can be fitted with a nonconducting sleeve over which a set of receiving coils may be mounted to capture the energy from spinning within an axle housing fitted with magnets. The spin of the coil in the magnetic field generates DC current at the end(s) of the axles through a basic split ring brush commutator design. Alternatively a brushless system may be used where the axle is fitted along its length with a magnet as a sleeve, this then induces receiving coils in the axle housing while the axle turns. The current may be fed to a battery for use in powertrain and other vehicular systems.
