An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) comprises: a fuselage; a duct comprising a rotatable fan or propeller configured to provide lift to the UAV, wherein the duct is connected to the fuselage; and two rotatably mounted opposed canards extending from the fuselage, wherein the canards are configured to rotate and alter an angle of attack of the canards during flight of the UAV.
