An air foil is defined by The American Heritage Science Dictionary © 2002 as a structure having a shape that provides lift, propulsion, stability, or directional control in a flying object. The very early versions of the air foil were simply a copy of the wing of a bird, however, since the early part of the 20th century the design has been improved and sophisticated through mathematical application, subsequently analysed and perfected in wind tunnels and tested on aircraft or other relevant objects. Taking the example of an aircraft, the aircraft wing provides lift by causing air to pass at a higher speed over the wing than below it, resulting in greater pressure below than above. This phenomenon of falling pressure in an air stream as the velocity of the air increases is known as the Bernoulli Effect. The Bernoulli Effect accounts for the lift generated by the air foil shape of the aircraft wing. The invention of the BF Moore Air Foil will change some of the previous conceptions of the necessary shape and will provide a more effective structure going forward.
