A wave-powered device (WPD) that is subject to waves in the water and may utilize the power of waves is disclosed. The device includes a float, a wave-actuated component, and a closure component which in a first state secures the float and wave-actuated component together and a second state permits the wave-actuated component to move away from the float. A tether connected between the float and the wave-actuated component. When the closure component is in the second state and the float is on the surface of still water and the wave-actuated component is submerged below the float, the tether extends downwards from the float under tension. When the float is on the surface of wave-bearing water the wave-actuated component interacts with the water to generate forces that are transmitted to the tether.

    L'invention concerne un véhicule marin houlomoteur qui comprend: a) un premier élément sous la forme d'un flotteur qui se déplace sur ou à proximité de la surface de l'eau; b) un second élément houlomoteur qui se déplace sous le premier élément; et c) un moyen par lequel le premier élément entre en prise avec le second élément et/ou le second élément entre en prise avec le premier élément. Le moyen de mise en prise permet à l'un des éléments d'offrir un soutien latéral à l'autre élément, ce qui réduit au minimum le mouvement latéral de l'un contre l'autre élément lorsque ceux-ci sont emboîtés
