A slat for fixed-wing aircraft that includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, a chord, and an inboard edge that includes particular dimensions to affect airflow over the wing. The inboard edge comprises a first leg that extends from the leading edge to an intermediate point and a second leg that extends from the intermediate point to the trailing edge. An outboard edge extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge. The second leg is disposed at an angle to the first leg, toward the outboard edge. This arrangement achieves greater maximum lift and delays stall onset.
