The present disclosure relates to rubber compositions for tire sidewalls which compositions are based upon elastomers including natural rubber in combination with cis-polybutadiene and also contain specified amounts of carbon black and silica filler as well as silane coupling agent. While a reduction in hysteresis can be beneficial in achieving lower rolling resistance, lower heat build-up, or both, reducing the amount of carbon black to achieve a reduction in hysteresis can undesirably reduce the modulus or toughness of the rubber composition. Use of the disclosed rubber compositions in tire sidewalls can achieve reduced hysteresis along with improved toughness.
