A Keyless Rudder Carrier Bearing (RCB) is a complete Rudder support steering tiller and rudder trunk seal arrangement in one piece of equipment. The advantages of the RCB is that it only requires a parallel rudder stock. Eliminating the need to machine the upper rudder stock taper locking thread and drive keys. Mounted to the top of the rudder trunk or support shelf the RCB supports the full load of the rudder whilst allowing it to turn smoothly. Torque and axial loads are transmitted by a high load capacity cone clamping element. The RCB can be supplied as a support unit only (no tiller) or complete with a Tiller Arm Attachment which incorporates a second or third cone clamping element with custom designed tiller arms. The RCB is designed to exceed the requirements of marine Classification Society rules. The RCB is: a rudder support unit a tiller unit and rudder trunk seal unit in one piece of equipment. Adaptable to suit differing designs and vessel constructional materials.
