The Laser Detection system for Toll Plaza line defaulters will be responsible for the detection of misuse of the toll charges. The laser circuit will be set at certain height and it will detect if the vehicle is above that height and hence it can identify whether the vehicle is of that height. A laser based method and system for preventing unauthorized lane change by vehicles is provided. The method comprising: detecting presence of one or more vehicles near a toll plaza using one or more proximity and motion sensors; triggering a laser light circuitry configured near the toll plaza at a predetermined height; directing the laser light from said laser light circuitry to determine the height of the vehicle; determining if height of the vehicle matches with the allowed height of the lane in which the vehicle is standing near the toll plaza; notifying and raising an alert if the vehicle height is found not to be as the authorized height of the vehicle lane in which the vehicle is standing near the toll plaza.
