A portable traffic light boom comprises a chassis, a locomotion support supporting the chassis for movement over terrain, and a boom actuator carried by the chassis. A boom support is operable to move the boom support between a lowered position and a raised position, and a triad signal light array is carried by the chassis. A main controller is electrically coupled to the boom actuator to control movement of the boom support, and is also electrically coupled to the triad signal light array to control illumination of the triad signal light array. A secondary controller is electrically coupled to the main controller and configured to detect a fault condition in the main controller. The secondary controller is electrically coupled to the triad signal light array and, responsive to detecting the fault condition in the main controller, illuminates the triad signal light array according to a predetermined user-defined fault configuration. 140 146--, 122 150 134 E:H M~i-3 11--,126
