A gate pivot 28 for pivotably supporting a gate 30 of a freight vehicle 10. The pivot 28 includes a vehicle mount portion 32 for mounting the pivot 28 to a wall or frame structure 22 of the vehicle 10, and a gate mount portion 38 for mounting the pivot 28 to a side edge region 40 of the gate 30. The gate mount portion 38 is pivotably connected to the vehicle mount portion 32. In use, the gate mount portion 38 is pivotable relative to the vehicle mount portion 32 about a generally vertical axis Y. The vehicle mount portion 32 includes a fastener receiving aperture. The fastener receiving aperture is provided for receiving a fastener to mount the vehicle mount portion 32 to the wall or frame structure 22 such that, in use, the vehicle mount portion 32 is pivotable relative to the wall or frame structure 22.
