In the present invention, a bogie frame for a railway vehicle is provided with a pair of left and right side sills disposed along the rail direction and a cross beam for joining the side sills. The cross beam is configured from a top plate member, a bottom plate member, and a pair of front and back side plate members arranged between the top and bottom plate members and welded together. A strike plate support extends out from front and back edges of the top plate member and the bottom plate member correspondingly with respect to the positions in which a strike plate for attaching a traction motor and a gear unit is disposed, the strike plate being welded to the strike plate support. Consequently, excellent welding workability can be achieved when assembling the bogie frame.
