THE CF6 engine is a dual rotor, high bypass ratio turbofan engine designed for airline operation. It incorporates a variable stator, high pressure ratio compressor, an annular combustor, an air-cooled core engine turbine and a co-axial front fan driven by a five-stage low pressure turbine (Fig. 1). The core engine has an exhaust thrust spoiler which operates in conjunction with the fan cascade reverser during landing roll.
