BEFORE July 1987, the Aerospace Division of Aeroquip Ltd., Redditch, had only a few conventional metalcutting machines on the shop floor, and subcontracted out most of its hose end fitting manufacture. By October, the company had plunged straight into computer-controlled machining in-house using two advanced turning centres with driven tooling and endworking capability from Gildemeister UK Ltd., Luton.
