AN opportunity was recently afforded of inspecting in a stripped condition the De Havilland Gipsy engine, after its “endurance” test. The engine had been flown for a total of 600 hours, during which it was sealed, so that no internal parts could be adjusted or replaced. An engine of this type was fully described in the March issue of AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING, to which readers are referred for details.
