THIS year's King's Cup Air Race was more interesting than any there has been for a number of years. There is undoubtedly much more of excitement in a race that takes place over a number of laps round a small circuit than the type of race that we have had of recent years where the entrants disappeared from view on taking off and did not return till after a twenty-four or forty-eight-hour tour of the country. Aeroplane racing has unfortunately fallen out of favour, except in America, but there is much to be said for it. We have always felt that it is difficult, if not impossible, to combine it with an endurance test, and this year's event confirms us in our view that it is better to be satisfied with a race pure and simple.
