On the 13th July, 1982, a B747 belonging to Singapore Airlines, registration No. 9U-SQD, en route from Singapore to Melbourne, flew through a cloud of volcanic dust from the recent eruption of Mt. Galunnang. The following is a report by Singapore Airline engineers on the incident and their recommendations for future preventive action.
