PROGRESS on restoration of the of the famous de Havilland Comet G-ACSS, winner of the Mac Robertson Air Race from England to Australia in 1934, is being speeded by further offers of help from organisations and individuals within the aircraft and allied industries. With financial aid from the Transport Trust, the main airframe work is proceeding in the workshops of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden Aerodrome, nr Biggleswade in Bedfordshire. The main structure components have proved more sound than was anticipated, with the result that the completed wooded airframe may be more than 80 per cent original.
