The flight guidance system selected by VFW-Fokker for use on its VFW-614 is the FGS-70 integrated autopilot/flight director system developed by The Bendix Corporation's Navigation & Control Division. It was flight evaluated for the first time aboard the VFW-614 on November 30, 1972 in Bremen, Germany. The unparalleled success of the first flight on the G3 prototype aircraft was due largely to the coordinated efforts of VFW-Fokker and Bendix in programming the aircraft stability derivatives on Bendix analog simulators.
