A CONFERENCE on ‘Titanium in the Aircraft Industry’, organized by Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd., was held in London on February 15. This was attended by about 150 people from the aircraft industry, and served two main purposes: it provided a progress report on titanium in this country at a time when the metal is just emerging from the largely experimental stage to become a practical engineering material; and it was an opportunity for the aircraft industry to make clear to the only commerical producers of titanium in this country what they wanted from the metal. We intend to publish a detailed report on the conference proceedings in our April issue.
