WE have recently been sent the accompanying interesting photographs of details of the revised Newall XL 4in. by 18 in. Grinder. Although this machine is essentially a plain grinder, it can also be used for taper work and has, in fact, a wide range of attachments that make it adaptable for the grinding of external radii, angle and shoulder grinding and special form and centre grinding. The new model has been improved by bringing all the controls to the front of the machine and the housing of all the electrical gear inside the base. An interesting feature is that the workhead can be converted from dead to live centre grinding by transferring the belt from the front of the workhead (Fig. 4) to the rear (Fig. 6, left).
