THE last of the annual Farnborough Air Shows (see p. 302) went out in a blaze of glory—fulfilling right royally its early promise of being an occasion for the connoisseur. Seven aircraft, varying from the tiny Beagle Wallis WA 116 one-man autogyro to the mighty Vickers VC10 long-range airliner, made their first appearance at the Show; the Indoor Exhibition was larger than ever before and showed to advantage the technical ingenuity and scope of the British industry; and the flying display was the finest which we are likely to see for many years. Only the Missile Park—with noticeably fewer exhibits than previous years—cast a shadow of pessimism upon the Show.
