ROLLS-ROYCE has been working with Boeing since late 1973 on the development of a version of the Boeing 747 airliner with RB211 engines. It will be powered by the 50 000 lb thrust RB211–524 engine. Production-standard RB211–524s are scheduled for delivery to Boeing in Spring 1976 to permit certification of the aircraft with these engines. Entry into airline service is scheduled for the Spring of 1977.
