AS the time of the S.B.A.C. Display at Farnborough approaches the tempo of events in the aircraft world accelerates. At last some firms have been allowed to show something of their guided weapon work, but not soon enough for any of the details to be incorporated in the article by BRIGADIER CLEMOW, which begins overleaf. However we feel that this introduction to the fundamentals of guided weapons will be of great use to the many who will see the actual weapons for the first time at Farnborough this year. Two other events are, however, likely to have a more lasting importance for the aircraft industry than the publication of weapon details, because they concern the whole pattern of future aviation. These are the publication of the Air League Committee's report on their study on the future of British air transport, and of SIR ROY FEDDEN'S book Britain's Air Survival. We have not yet had time to study the latter, and propose at this stage to say no more about it.
