THE equipment of the Houston Mt. Everest Expedition was described in detail in AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING, Vol. V., March, 1933, pp. 59–63, and the departure of the personnel from Croydon recorded. The two special aeroplanes—the Westland P.V.3 and Wallace—which had been shipped by boat, were met at Karachi, and before the flight across India to the base at Purnea was begun, each was tested in a climb to altitude.
