AbstractRecovery variants of two U.K. Armoured Fighting Vehicles have been designed in the last decade and are now in production. In each case anchor blade designs for the variants were tested at model scale in soil bins at the Royal Military College of Science. This paper describes the techniques involved in the modelling process, the results from the trials and comments on the efficacy of model testing in the field of soil-vehicle interaction.
