Abstract Under axial microgravity, an originally circular cylindrical liquid column assumes an amphora-type geometry. The response of an axially excited amphora-type liquid column consisting of non-viscous liquid has been investigated for a harmonic excitation. Free surface displacement- and velocity-response have been determined. The results shall be used for the efficient planning of the “LICORE” experiments in the second German Spacelab mission (D-2).
