Abstract In this comment, a Sagdeev pseudopotential analysis is used to illustrate signficant errors in the paper entitled “Dust-Ion-Acoustic Waves in unmagnetized 4-component plasma” [Adv. Space Res. 67, 1244–1253 (2021)]. It is shown that this is due to an erroneous formulation of the moving frame used for the reductive perturbation analysis. The correct derivation is provided in detail. The significance of the near-supercritical compositional criterion is also illustrated.
