Abstract Based on the results of the observation campaign of comet Halley, ice-mineral mixtures were produced with a mean density of 300 to 500 kg/m3 and an albedo between about 0.05 and 0.2. The samples were prepared by spraying different water-mineral mixtures into liquid nitrogen. As a propellant we used nitrogen or carbon dioxide. with carbon dioxide we obtained ices with two components (H2O and CO2). Sample preparation methods from the gas phase are under development. During the freezing a slight enrichment in 18O and deuterium was produced. After the iradiation with an artificial sun, the uppermost layers of the sample showed an important enrichment of heavy isotopes. This was also observed in the lowest layers whereas the intermediate layer showed no isotope fractionation.
