AbstractResults of the eddy diffusion coefficient K determination by various methods at the mesosphere and lower thermosphere heights are considered. Contradictions in the above results are analyzed. The conclusion is made that at those heights the eddy diffusion is better developed in winter, than in summer. Account for the mean transport in indirect methods and for the temporal and spatial scales of eddy movements in direct methods of K-determination leads to uncontradictory picture of the eddy diffusion seasonal variations.
