AbstractA helium cooled balloon-borne infrared spectrometer was launched from Aire-sur-l'Adour (France) in May, 1986. The experiment used the limb scan technique to measure height profiles of nine stratospheric trace gases prior to, during, and after sunrise.Mixing ration profiles of ozone (O3) and nitrogen pentoxide (N2O5) are presented here. The ozone measurements are compared to in situ measurements taken by electrochemical Brewer/Mast sondes. The N2O5 mixing ratios deduced from predawn measurements are found to be in good agreement with observations obtained by other experiments.
