Abstract Although the most novel part of the Phobos mission was not realized the Phobos-moon events were distintly manifested. Some of them were observed during crossings of the Phobos orbit, the others during the closest encounters (<200 km) with the moon. The plasma particles, wave and magnetic field effects are analysed. The Phobos events in the solar wind resemble phenomena observed during Ba and Li — releases (-deceleration and (or) deflection of the solar wind, variations of the magnetic field). However the additional source of neutrals is supposed to explain the observed features. The interaction of the solar wind with a cloud of dusty ions could could also result in deceleration of ions, plasma flow deflection and the excitation of plasma waves The activity of the Phobos moon may be strongly initiated by the bow shock heated (accelerated) electrons on the favorable configuration of the magnetic field.
