Abstract Desert RATS objectives, hardware, locations, and participants have changed over time. This paper provides historical perspective on the original motivations for the Desert RATS analog, and an overview of the changes in RATS over time. The lessons learned from each year are synopsized. Finally, a preview of Desert RATS 2011 tests is included.
